My best friend and I met when we were 9 years old. It didn’t really matter how each other's behavior was because when kids get along, they play together like they've met for a while. Our friendship was like a roller coaster, we had many great times and also had many terrible moments. The great times were like memories that will never be erased whereas the bad moments, it helped us grow as an individual. Fighting makes us humans connect and understand more about each other. We also learn from our mistakes and make our friendship even stronger.
The first time we met was at my best friend's house. I don’t remember how we began knowing each other but probably there was something that got both of our attentions and we just started playing together. Maybe our likes and dislikes pulled our friendship together and we became friends. We began to share our dolls or toys and had many play dates. My parents would take me to her house at times so that we can hang out and play together at her back yard. Normally with stones and leaves.
Very frequently we would share our tiny little secrets such as crushes, our favorites...etc, and get to know each other better. There was many times where we would meet at each other's house to hangout or even write each other letters because she didn’t live around my neighborhood. Going to school, we would usually hang together and each lunch together. Other friends very often ask one of us where the 'other half' is when we're not together. During high school, we tend to look for each other at break time and just spend our break doing idleness. Most of the time, we would ask each other for different opinions such as choosing outfits, buying shoes..etc. We had many things in common and it made us have an easier way to communicate. We would go to parties or activities together and have sleep over's at each other's house. Becoming best friends were our formal bonding because we knew almost everything about each other and we shared mostly anything.
Spending time together is not always likely to be good. As a human being we had many conflicts. We might not agree on something and tend to have tiny fights here and there. The good thing is that after we fight, we would always talk about it in the end and solve our problem and leave the fight behind us. There was no ignoring involved or breaking up of our friendship.
I am currently a student of Corozal Junior College where I am attending second year of General Studies, Accounting. Life is made according to how we live it. I love my life even though at times I complain but while doing so, I realize the goodness of what I have in my life that not most people have.
What I like most is art; drawing and being creative is one of my best qualities. I may not be skilled or pro at drawing but I do my best to reach my own standard that I want to pursue. Just a few years ago or so, I found another interest I actually like a lot and that is, baking. I sat down with my mom watching food channel when one of the episodes of 'Ace of Cakes' came on. It was so great to see the different designs and creations that people can do to those cakes! It was amazing. I even told my mom that if in the future I have nowhere to work I'd like to learn to bake so that I can open my own shop with my own cake creations someday. There was also a time when I started having the interest of clothes designing. I started drawing different clothing with weird looking designs. I shouldn’t call it weird, I should call it unique or unknown.
At times my mood is the one to decide what I like or not. Sometimes I like to spend times with friends and families, but few times I prefer to be alone and just relax and forget about the world. What I like most right now is shopping. It's probably what every female do and I actually love shopping with my mom. Sometimes she's awesome but sometimes it gets annoying when we're in the same shop for more than an hour.
What I dislike most is cockroach but maybe I shouldn’t say 'dislike' since it's what I fear, but those insects disgusts me a lot. I somewhat dislikes school, even though I know that education is a very important aspect of our lives but it sometimes gets really frustrating. Meeting the friends and socializing are great but when the school works start to pile up on us, it gets pretty tense. I also dislike sweets/ candies because the sweetness gets to my head and I normally starts to have a weird headache.
Usually I would tell people that I don’t have talents, but maybe I should look deeper inside me and hopefully I would discover some talents. I know for sure that art is one of my talents. Drawing and painting are something I love doing and are something's I am good at doing. I love mixing colors to come up with different shades to paint a picture so that it looks more alive and I also love drawing comics because of the expressions and style that I can create on the piece of art.
Another talent that I had found out years ago is singing. I use to tell myself all the time that I suck at singing and that people would never like hearing me, but when I started 3rd form my friends begged me to sing. They actually liked it! From then on, I started singing aloud and enjoyed myself. I accepted the fact that I am not a bad singer. I may not be as great but I am not as bad either. I guess fashion is also an unique talent of mine. I can put pieces of clothing into one outfit that looks so weird yet so awesome. I had always thought that talents are those like being a great poet or an intelligent scientist, but then I realized that artistic qualities are also talents so I should be proud of myself.
I characterize myself as a forgiving, joyous, playful, outgoing and understanding individual. I tend to be a bit shy around people I don’t know, but once I'm use to their existence, they will see the real me; fun and friendly. I am considered understanding because many times I observe the people around me and i know what not to say or what I can do to help. I'm the type of person that forgets and forgives when I have an argument with someone. I might get upset at first but after a few minutes, I already forgot and forgive the person and it's as if nothing happened. The bad thing about my attitude is that I am short tempered and many times I am impatient. I am not always responsible and I don’t like making promises because with me, some promises will be broken. That is something I don’t really like about myself.
My strength would be that I cherish my friendships a lot; when they need my help I would always find a way to help my friends to solve their problems. I can also say advising people is one of my strength. One of the biggest weakness that I have is giving up. I give up very easily. If I don’t know how to solve a school homework, I would skip it and leave it unsolved. Another weakness is that I am afraid to try new things, I am afraid to fail. I am not the type of person that would want new adventures or want to explore by myself. I fear new environments. I tend to depend on my family a lot, maybe because I grew up having them do everything for me and also because I'm the only girl and they tend to spoil me. Low self-esteem is also one of my biggest weakness. It's hard to tell why, but I guess it happens for a reason.
I can use my strengths to help others when they need the help. When people have trouble with another individual, I can advice them and help them solve their problems. I can improve my weaknesses by learning to do things on my own. Maybe I can start by making my own bank account or school registering. Also learn to be independent and gain knowledge of new things, meet new people. Socializing might be a great way to help me grow to be a better person.
I am the third child and also the only girl in my family. I can be considered a great friend and a loving partner. I currently don’t have a job but I am planning to start working with my dad so that it can also be a way to help me grow and be more responsible in life.
